"Show Me Your Technique" with My Creative Time

Good morning! Today we are doing a mini blog hop at My Creative Time.  The amazing and talented ladies today are:

and now me!

I LOVE this idea that Emma has come up with! There are so many times I have seen another crafters project and thought how did they do that!!! If it weren't for  some many of you out there explaining your creations, in detail, I would be completely lost! I still get AMAZED everyday by ALL of you! There is always something to learn! I will try to make this post as short as I can but since I LOVE to talk ~ we shall see. Plus I am apologizing for ALL the pictures ~ I do not do videos but TOTALLY LOVE to watch them!

My technique today for you is to look at your dies in a different way! We buy dies and see them for what they are, use them for a holiday or occasion and tend put them away. I on the other hand look at them and think what else can I do with that! I try to utilize them as much as possible. I have seen many of my fellow design team member and many of you do the same as well.

So for my first project I decided to use one of the ornaments for Emma's last release and make a flower! When first laid eye on these beauties I saw them for what they were but then I started thinking ~ Petals!!! They would make PERFECT sunflower petals. Not to mention I think a poinsettia too!

Finished card

Materials used: See the ornaments dies ~ who would have thought!

I took the stitched circle die, used my ATG gun and then placed my ornaments ~ oops I mean petals onto it. Why did I use my ATG ?? I find the tape is very user friendly. I like to place them down ~ move the petals around and sorta play around with them until I am happy with the spacing,

Next I did the same thing here with tape for my top petal layer. After I am TOTALLY satisfied with the placing I will add some glue to the back of the petals just to secure them just a tad more.

Here is my centers for my sunflower. I LOVE to use my Zyron. It is the BEST for glitter and Martha Stewart Micro beads. I will say the beads seem to have a mind of their own but so far the Zyron works the BEST for them!! My fellow DT sister ~ Ruthie ~ just made a video you can watch here to see what she did with glitter and the Zyron!

Now you are probably wondering why to circles. Well I find it much easier to pop dot my center when using MS micro beads. You can't seem to press to hard on them or you will loose to many ~ in my opinion. Plus I LOVE to pop everything up! Maybe that is why my postage on mailing a card is threw the roof! LOL!

I also realized last night that I forgot to do my other little project for the ornament die! You can make leaves for Emma's "Rolled Flower Dies" or her "Flower Petal Dies" . So say you don't have a punch or want a change ~ you could use this die for just that too! Again I just inked up the edges a tad just to show you how they could be used. I really wanted to crinkle those babies up!!!

Sorry for any blurry pictures! But my lighting issues continue! Day or night!

Okay for this next card I decided to use the cone die from the stamp set "Celebrate Good Times".  I saw another fellow DT team member, Nikki , use ice cream cone stamps for trees. Well I LOVED this idea and thought hmmm ~ I don't have those stamps but I do have Emma's dies! So I used the cones for my trees and my mounds of snow ~ Can you see it?? I used the cloud dies from "Fly Away With Me Dies" . I can't believe how much I LOVE how  this turned out! Now let me just say I did NOT embellish this like I wanted to or any of my projects today because I really wanted you to see the dies. I would have LOVED to add some stickles or glitter to the clouds ~ oops ~ I mean snow mounds but I wanted you to see the actual dies! The best part of it all is that these fit PERFECTLY on the new Tri-Fold card die from the stamp set "Card Sentiment's" .

Well I hope I didn't keep you too long or blog you down with so many pictures but this girl is video shy! I applaud anyone and everyone who does videos!  I hope I showed you how to look at your dies a little differently now. Get you money worth out of them! If I can do it so can you!! Plus trust me ~ snicker ~ there are so MANY more things you can do with Emma's dies!!!!!  I can't wait to share at a later time with you all! Here are a few other posts i have done yo may want to chek out using Emma's dies in different ways.

  40. Kimberly,

You are soooo CLEVER!!! :) I love what you've done with Emma's dies! And I already bought an ornament die from a different company last year, but now I NEED to get Emma's, too! ;)

I am baffled though! How are your die cuts repositionable with the ATG tape?! I love, love, love my ATG Gun, but more & more I find myself using my Scotch Quick Dry glue so I can straighten things out or center them better (I can't tell you how many things I've ripped trying to pull up what I barely laid down with the tape from my ATG Gun! ;( That's one of the things that I love about my tape: nothing will fall off (but I never get it right on the first try). Your secret please?

Thank you so much for sharing,
